How much is Cyber Essentials?

One of the main questions we get when talking to customers, whether new or existing, is how much is Cyber Essentials, what do I need to do and how can I get it completed quickly?

If you’re not aware of what Cyber Essentials is and how it can help your business, you can read more about the scheme at the official NCSC website which can be found at: https://www.cyberessentials.ncsc.gov.uk/

The certification comes in two flavours, the self-assessment version, Cyber Essentials basic and Cyber Essentials Plus, which is an onsite audited version.  Certification Bodies, additional, to offering these two certifications, tend to offer many different product offerings and/or solutions which can help businesses work towards their certification. Depending upon the certification body, will depend on the product offerings, however one area that is usually the same is, the offering of pre-audits, hourly blocks of support to help you through the process as well as remediation services.

The Costs

We can’t help you with what the costs are for other certification bodies, however InfoSec Governance’s costs are as follows.

Cyber Essentials basic certification

• Micro organisations (0-9 employees)	£300 +VAT
  Small organisations (10-49 employees)	£400 +VAT
  Medium organisations (50-249 employees)	£450 +VAT
  Large organisations (250+ employees)	£500 +VAT

Cyber Essentials Plus certification

The costs for achieving the higher audited Plus version can vary and it is difficult to put a price on it, due to the number of endpoints/devices and location of the business. However, if you have achieved the basic certification within three months of wanting to achieve the Plus certification and you are based within the North East of England, our prices are usually around £1,200 + VAT. However, we do ask that you contact us for more information and we’ll go through your requirements and give you a formal quotation for the certification.
